Background:
While I was painting this painting I kept thinking “safety in numbers” for some reason, so I decided to name it that. I think it came from that saying, it takes a village to raise a child, because of the conversations that I was having with friends and family at the time. It’s a reminder to those of us who try to do it all alone that it’s okay to lean on our friends, they are our village, and we are theirs.
Process:
It painted in several layers, starting with soft pastels to achieve an interesting visual texture, followed by a layer of crackle paste to give the painting a feeling of dry heat, iridescent acrylic paint for an elegant shimmer, and finished by a layer of rich oil paint, which gives the piece a sense of depth.
Materials:
The thick wooden frame is hand-built and mounted by a quality Italian Caravaggio canvas.

Her work explores feminine strength, cultural identity, and modern womanhood through bold, expressive portraiture.
Shaped by a lifetime of traveling and studying across Europe, the Carribbean, and the Americas, her paintings are influenced by wild nature, movement, and women across the globe.
Since 2016, her work has been collected privately across Europe, the US, and Panama.
